TED Community Organization Presents:

TED AWARENESS WEEK 2026

Introducing Whole-Person Care for Thyroid Eye Disease & Graves’ Disease.

TED Awareness Week 2026 Poster of Weeklong Activities

OPEN HOUSE — November 9–13
Every Evening. Every Activity. Everyone Welcome!

Patients • Care Partners • Physicians • Advocates • Industry & Community Partners

The Journey from TED to NED continues — and this year, we’re exploring something that can make a meaningful difference in how we live with and beyond thyroid eye disease (TED) and Graves’ disease.

Medical advances are creating new possibilities for treating these autoimmune conditions. But living well involves more than medical treatment alone.

Our new Whole-Person Care Program brings patients, medical experts, and community partners together to explore the many dimensions of health and wellbeing — emotional, social, physical, and practical.

Through shared learning, trusted medical guidance, AI-informed exploration, and small, sustainable changes, we hope to help people become more confident participants in their care and discover new possibilities for their lives.

Everyone learns. Everyone teaches. Everyone contributes.

During TED Awareness Week, we invite you to experience this philosophy firsthand through five evenings of conversation, discovery, connection, and creativity.

One registration. Five evenings. Come for one or join us for all!

All sessions begin at 4:00 PM Pacific / 7:00 PM Eastern, using the same Zoom link throughout the week.

SCHEDULE OF TED AWARENESS WEEK SESSIONS

Monday, November 9

CONNECTED Mini-Summit — Whole-Person Care: Why It Matters
Two hours | 4:00–6:00 PM PT / 7:00–9:00 PM ET

Hour 1 — The Patient Voice

Meet our TED Builders, patients whose lived experiences helped shape the Whole-Person Care Program. Each will share a little of their journey, why whole-person care matters, and what excites them about its possibilities.

Hour 2 — Your Questions. Our Answers

Let’s learn together!

Submit your most pressing question at the time of registration. The theme: “How can I participate in my own medical / healing journey?” This will enable us to explore the topics that are your highest priorities. And you can learn about what is important to others who are also diagnosed with TED / Graves’ Disease.

Julie Owens will moderate a panel of dedicated and compassionate TED specialists who will share their expertise and thoughtfully answer your questions about your medical care and healing journey.

Tuesday, November 10

The Medical Perspective — Whole-Person Care for TED & Graves’ Disease
One hour | 4:00 PM PT / 7:00 PM ET

What if treating TED and Graves’ disease meant caring for the whole person, not just the disease?

Join Dr. Alon Kahana and Dr. Margarita Ochoa-Maya for an inspiring conversation about the importance and possibilities of Whole-Person Care alongside medical treatment.

The discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Nathaniel Jellinek, MD, who brings a unique perspective as both a physician and a TED patient.

Together, they will explore how medical treatment and whole-person care can work hand in hand — recognizing the physical, emotional, social, and everyday challenges of living with TED and Graves’ disease.

We’ll consider how patients and physicians can become stronger partners in care, how lifestyle and wellbeing fit into the healing journey, and what a more comprehensive, patient-centered approach might look like.

Our shared goal: Helping people move beyond managing a disease toward reclaiming their health, wellbeing, and quality of life.

Wednesday, November 11

TED Support Group — How Whole-Person Care Empowers Patients
One hour | 4:00 PM PT / 7:00 PM ET

Sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is listen, share, and discover that we have agency in our own healing journey! Join our welcoming, peer-led Support Group as we explore whole-person care.

Support Group Facilitators: Chesna Duffy Adams, Christine Gustafson, Susan Roberts, Pharm.D.

One Story. Many Lenses. — Discovering New Possibilities Through AI
One hour | 4:00 PM PT / 7:00 PM ET

What happens when we look at our own story through a different lens?

Using a simple Storytelling Workshop fact sheet and guided AI prompts, we’ll explore how our experiences can be viewed through resilience, relationships, identity, personal growth, and future possibilities.

We’ll share what we discover and consider a powerful question:
If I see my story differently, might I also see new choices for my future?

No AI experience is necessary. Participation and sharing are optional, and we’ll offer guidance for protecting personal information.
