NOT MY FACE!!
Identity. Loss. Healing. Hope.
For many people living with thyroid eye disease (TED), the most difficult part of the journey is not what others can see—it is what happens within.
TED can change the way we look, the way we feel, the way we interact with others, and the way we see ourselves. It can affect confidence, identity, relationships, and daily life in ways that are often difficult to explain.
Join us on June 29 for the first CONNECTED 2026 Mini Summit as we explore the profound human experience of thyroid eye disease and the many pathways toward healing and recovery.
###
Session 1 ~ 60 minutes
The Human Face: Identity, Impact & The Journey with TED
In a special conversation, Dr. Raymond Douglas and Dr. Douglas Sunde will explore the importance of the human face and the profound ways TED can affect how we see ourselves, how others see us, and how we move through the world.
Together, they will discuss the physical, emotional, social, and psychological dimensions of facial change and identity while offering insight, perspective, and hope for those navigating their own TED journey.
Facilitated by Christine Gustafson, Founder and Executive Director of TED Community.
###
Session 2 ~ 60 minutes
Pathways to Healing: Treatments, Restoration & Renewed Confidence
Following the first session, leading TED specialists will discuss the range of options available to help patients regain comfort, function, confidence, and a greater sense of self following the effects of TED.
Topics will include current treatments, rehabilitative approaches, surgical options, and evolving strategies that can help patients navigate their journey toward healing and recovery.
Facilitated by Carol Bowden, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, TED and Graves’ patient, pharmacist, and healthcare professional.
###
Audience Q&A and Community Afterparty
Each session will include dedicated time for audience questions, followed by an optional 30-minute virtual afterparty where participants can continue the conversation, connect with others in the TED community, and share their experiences in a welcoming and supportive environment.
